The Hotel of the Angel

When, in The Moon And The Bonfires, Anguilla came back to his hometown after so many years, he stayed at Albergo dell’Angelo (the Hotel of the Angel), in the main square of the village.

In the novel, he observed the patron saint festival from the balcony of his room. The same balcony appears also in the short story The Langa, within the collection August Holiday.

The hotel of the novel (which was also the one where Pavese used to stay) was actually called Albergo della Posta (Hotel of the Post). It is mentioned as such in Ciau Masino.
