The train station
The little station of Santo Stefano Belbo, from where Pavese’s characters come and go, is still the same with its railways. Only, it is no longer operating and is surrounded by a pitiful atmosphere of carelessness, as a place out of time, a wreck, an aground ship left abandoned.
